Chris Horn was co-founder and former CEO of IONA Technologies. When the company went public in 1997, it was at the time, the 5th largest IPO in the history of Nasdaq.
He has served as chair of various technology companies including Cloudfish and Sophia. He has also chaired several policy, educational and non-profit groups such as the Ireland China Association, UNICEF Ireland, the Irish Brain Research Foundation, the Irish Management Institute, the Community Foundation of Ireland, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce e-City working group and the Government’s Expert Group on Future Skills. He has also served on advisory boards for the IBEC national council, ICT Ireland, Trinity College Dublin, Science Foundation Ireland and the business advisory board of Georgia Tech. Ireland.
He was President of Engineers Ireland (2009-2010), and a member of the Innovation Taskforce, an advisory group established by the Taoiseach which reported to Government in February 2010 and was a member of the consequent Implementation Group to oversee execution of the Taskforce recommendations.
He was involved in start-up support through Atlantic Bridge and the University Bridge Fund until the end of 2023.
He is an occasional opinion writer for the Irish Times newspaper.
