I-Form Collaborates with Croom Medical and IMR on Groundbreaking SMART Eureka Project

I-Form, the Research Ireland Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, is delighted to announce its role in the successful completion of the APEM-AM SMART Eureka project in collaboration with Croom Medical and Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR). This pioneering project aimed to enhance quality and reduce costs in additive manufacturing for the medical and aerospace sectors, marking a significant step forward in advanced manufacturing.

Central to I-Form’s contribution was conducting research into the additive manufacturing process. By utilising AI-driven approaches, our team carried out in-depth investigations into process optimisation, delivering enhanced outcomes for industrial applications. IMR played a crucial role in the project, focusing on increasing productivity in titanium additive manufacturing and exploring advanced post-processing technologies tailored to the medical industry. Using industry-relevant equipment, IMR ensured that all research was directly applicable to Croom Medical’s operations, bridging the gap between innovation and real-world applications.

Collaboration

This project demonstrates the strength of collaboration among I-Form, IMR, and Croom Medical, combining research, advanced equipment, and industrial expertise to achieve transformative results. It highlights the value of partnerships in driving innovation in additive manufacturing.
