I-Form Researchers Inspire Young Minds During STEPS Engineers Week

For Engineers Week, I-Form researchers had the privilege of engaging with primary school students across Ireland as part of STEPS Engineers Week, a nationwide initiative designed to inspire the next generation of engineers. Through virtual and in-person visits, our researchers shared their journeys into engineering, provided insight into their work, and facilitated hands-on activities to spark curiosity and creativity.
Bringing Engineering to the Classroom
We organised three school visits, each offering students a unique opportunity to learn about the world of engineering directly from researchers at I-Form:
-
Monday, March 3rd – Murhur National School, Moyvane, Co. Kerry (Virtual Visit)
Presenters: Dylan Armfield & Victoria Kaban
Our researchers connected with students online, sharing their experiences in the engineering field and answering a wide range of curious questions.
-
Tuesday, March 4th – Scoil Phádraig, Ballyhale, Co. Kilkenny (In-Person Visit)
Presenters: Deeksha Hota & Ozgun Tukac
Students not only learned about engineering careers but also got hands-on with a tower-building challenge, allowing them to apply problem-solving and teamwork skills.
-
Thursday, March 6th – St Pius X National School, Terenure, Co. Dublin (In-Person Visit)
Presenters: Cagri Yenigun & Danial Pazoki
This session included a bridge-building activity, demonstrating engineering principles in an interactive and engaging way.
Encouraging Future Engineers
During each visit, our researchers shared their personal career journeys, explaining how they became engineers and the exciting work they do at I-Form. Students were eager to ask questions about technology, innovation, and what it means to be an engineer in today's world. The in-person visits also allowed students to participate in hands-on engineering challenges, reinforcing problem-solving skills and fostering creativity.
Shaping the Future of Engineering
At I-Form, we are committed to promoting STEM education and encouraging young minds to explore engineering and technology. Initiatives like STEPS Engineers Week provide invaluable opportunities to engage, inspire, and educate the engineers of the future.
We extend our gratitude to the schools that welcomed us and to our researchers who enthusiastically shared their expertise and passion for engineering. By working together, we can continue to ignite curiosity and innovation in the next generation.
