I-Form Partners with University of Galway and Trane Technologies to Drive Sustainable Manufacturing Innovation
We’re delighted to announce the launch of a new three-year research partnership between I-Form, the University of Galway, and Trane Technologies, a global engineering leader including its Galway-based subsidiary Thermo King Europe. This collaboration will focus on developing sustainable technologies for advanced manufacturing processes - supporting innovation, increasing productivity, and reducing environmental impact across systems used in buildings, homes, and transportation.
Congratulations to all our I-Form colleagues at the University of Galway - Dr Noel Harrison, I-Form Funded Investigator, Padraig Conneely, I-Form Associate Member and the team at Trane Technologies Galway on this 3-year project partnership. Their leadership and expertise will play a key role in advancing new approaches to sustainable manufacturing.
The research will enhance advanced manufacturing processes for systems used in buildings, homes, and transportation - driving innovation in sustainable technologies, increasing productivity, and reducing environmental impact. The project brings together expertise in materials science, process engineering, and digital manufacturing to deliver transformative research that supports Ireland’s sustainability and innovation goals in advanced manufacturing.
At the launch event, Professor David Burn, President of University of Galway, was joined by Masoud Javaheri, Vice-President of Advanced Manufacturing at Trane Technologies, and Professor Laoise McNamara, Head of the School of Engineering at University of Galway, to celebrate the start of this impactful collaboration. I-Form Centre Director, Professor Denis Dowling and I-Form Business Development Manager, Dr Carolyn Hughes were also in attendance, representing I-Form’s ongoing commitment to collaboration between academia and industry.
Trane Technologies is a global leader in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) industry, with more than 40 sites worldwide. Through this collaboration, Trane Technologies’ Galway operations will work closely with I-Form and University of Galway to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of manufacturing.
