Dr. Jufan Zhang joined UCD in 2017. He is now a faculty member of UCD Centre of Micro/Nano Manufacturing Technology, and an Assistant Professor in School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Prior to his appointment at UCD, he completed his Bachelor (2004), Doctoral (2009) and Postdoctoral (2014) programs in Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He has worked on ultra-precision machining and micro/nano manufacturing for 15 years, in both academia and industry. Now he is leading research projects on nanopore manufacturing and related applications, renewable energy systems, ultra-thin and ultra-light AR lenses, various microneedle devices, micro-textured artificial joints, atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing (ACSM). He has obtained over 10 grants from the EU, Ireland, industry and international funders in the recent 3 years. He is a member of the International Society for Nanomanufacturing (ISNM), the International Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET), the Irish Manufacturing Council (IMC), and the Una Europa Self-Steering Committee on Future Materials.
