PERFORM brings together partners from 4 countries, located in peripheral regions of the European Union, who work collaboratively to develop a virtual and physical metal additive manufacturing (AM) Teaching Factory. A physical demonstrator, along with technical content, will be developed to train students and upskill industry professionals, in both metal AM and relevant cyber physical technologies. The latter will include the use of data analytics, the digital twin and augmented reality. This Factory programme is informed by the real-life industry needs, expressed by local industry partners.
The activity is designed to both provide training for undergraduate students, as well as to support those who are currently working in industry, interested in strengthening their skills in advanced manufacturing. For the latter the programme is designed to assist them to develop approaches for solving industry related problems, using the resources of the integrated virtual and physical learning factory. The industrially relevant content will be shared with other EIT Manufacturing partners, for the generation of educational materials to be made available to a wider audience.
